Trading Business Analyst

The position

Join us as a key partner and facilitator between the Trading and Operations (T&O) team, the Data/ML team, and the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) team!

In this role, you’ll have a direct impact on shaping how trading requirements translate into smart model specifications and real-world solutions. You’ll ensure pricing and optimization algorithms meet the needs of fast-paced trading environments and bring advanced analytics into front-office decision-making. Beyond that, you’ll lead efforts to keep our operations ready and efficient across wholesale electricity and ancillary markets, managing a diverse portfolio of C&I, BESS, and RES assets. 

This role offers plenty of collaboration across teams and opportunities to work with external partners like energy exchanges and grid operators.

What you’ll do

• Bridge Between Teams: Align Trading, ML/Data, and BESS strategies, translate trading needs into actionable specs

• Optimize Trading Operations: Support new market entry with clear roadmaps for BESS, RES, and demand response, and improve tools, dashboards, and processes to enhance efficiency in existing markets.

• Model Validation: Review and refine pricing, dispatch, and risk models for accuracy and usability.

• System Integration: Work with tech teams to embed tools into trading workflows and automate reporting.

• Market Insights: Analyze data, run scenarios, and provide insights to inform trading decisions and strategies.

What you’ll need

• 2+ years of experience in roles like Trading Business Analyst, Quantitative Analyst with operations experience, or Trading Operations specialist in commodity trading, energy, or utilities.

• Strong knowledge of power/renewables markets, European structures, and ancillary services.

• Experience with quantitative modeling, optimization, and forecasting for asset-backed trading.

• Familiar with trading processes, ETRM systems, grid operators, and energy exchanges.

• Proficient in data analytics and working-level programming (strong plus),e.g., Python, SQL

• Skilled in stakeholder and project  management, connecting technical, commercial, and operational teams.

• Relevant degree (e.g., Engineering, Physics, Economics) or business/finance background with technical training.

• Bonus: BESS asset optimization experience.
