The position

Our Trading analysts create value for our customers. They are responsible for generating revenue by bidding and optimising Sympower managed assets, into Balancing and wholesale markets. 

As a Trading analyst, you are responsible for day-ahead and intraday trading and real-time bid and asset monitoring. This high profile role in the Front Office combines both live trading operations shift work and Analyst projects

What you will do

  • Optimising Sympower's assets and portfolio management

  • Daily trade operations including auction bidding, intraday trading and position management

  • Mix of shift trading (extended daytimes + weekends)  and desk analysis (regular working hours)

  • Asset monitoring and market analysis

  • Trade adjustments, corrections, optimization of revenues, minimizing costs and fines

  • Customer bid and forecasting information management 

  • Asset availability and state-of-charge monitoring

  • Incident management and reporting

  • Profit-and-loss (PnL) reporting and analysis 

  • Working scheduled hours on the trading desk, approx 60% of your working time (as of current structure, that could potentially change).

Job requirements

What you’ll need

Must haves:

  • Fluent in English

  • Availability and willingness to work full time (40 hours) across different shifts (day, evening and weekends). Mainly starting with the evening shift.

  • Analytical and quantitative skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Excel and at intermediate level programming languages e.g. python, sql, etc.

  • Detail-oriented aptitude; a high degree of accuracy is required

  • Self-starter: ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively in a high paced environment

  • Demonstrated Trading/Operations experience in short-term power markets

  • Quantitative background: e.g. finance, engineering, maths

Strongly preferred:

  • Experience in Nordic power markets

  • Operational experience in flex asset management e.g. Demand Response, BESS, RES

  • Experience in asset backed trading 

  • Algo trading experience 

  • Strong knowledge of power market fundamentals and risk management principles

  • Proficiency in another EU language in one of our core markets (SE, GR, FI, NL, NO)

  • Experience in PnL reporting and position risk management 

  • Work or internship experience at a utility company, TSO, DSO or similar
