The position

Sympower is seeking a detail-oriented and autonomous Accountant to join our team in Athens. While you will be based in our Greek office, you will report directly to and collaborate daily with our central Finance team located in Amsterdam.

In this role, you will be a vital extension of our global finance operations of multiple entities within the Nordics, Greece and the Netherlands. Your primary focus will be overseeing the Accounts Receivable (AR), performing multi-currency bank reconciliations, calculating month-end accruals and other month-end activities. The ideal candidate is a good communicator who enjoys a hybrid work environment.

What you will do

  • Invoicing: generate, verify, and issue accurate customer invoices across various European entities, ensuring compliance with local billing requirements and VAT guidelines.

  • Payment Processing: Post daily payments to the correct accounts and entities within Netsuite, our ERP system.

  • AR aging management: Monitor entity-level AR aging reports, identify overdue accounts.

  • Bank reconciliations: Perform regular reconciliations for multiple corporate bank accounts across multiple European countries and currencies to ensure ledger balances match bank statements.

  • Inter-company transactions: Assist with recording and reconciling inter-company billings and transfers between the various European subsidiaries.

  • Support the year-end audit for the Group. 

  • Participate in automating processes where needed.

  • Hybrid working: availability to work at the office in Athens and collaborate with our other Greek based colleagues across Commercial and Trading.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting

  • 2-5 years of accounting experience preferably in an international environment.

  • Knowledge of Excel/Google sheets.

  • Strong communication skills and willingness to work as a team.

  • Detailed orientated with strong focus on timely and quality deliverables. 

  • English fluency is required.
