The Position 

We are looking for experienced Java Software Engineers to join Sympower's engineering team to work on solutions that help balance the electricity grid. 

Our Team

Our internal Tech Team at Sympower enables the building of robust and scalable solutions across our broader Engineering function. This team specialises in microservices infrastructure, streaming platform, observability, and enhancing the developer experience.

What you will do

  • Full life cycle development, starting with research, technical design and ending with deployment to the production environment

  • Creating and refining tools for platform infrastructure, observability, and developer experience

  • Identifying and improving parts of the platform to make it more scalable, fast, and secure

  • Review code and be open to feedback to ensure high-quality product

  • Contributing ideas to our product development roadmap

Job requirements

What you will need


  • 5+ years of professional experience in Java/Kotlin

  • Having an eye for detail, taking ownership, flexibility and eager to learn

  • Passionate about problem-solving and proactive, someone who won't hesitate to involve colleagues for support when needed

  • Experience in independently running projects end-to-end with little or no supervision

  • Experience with microservice architecture

  • Familiarity with some of the following technologies: Spring framework, JPA/Hibernate, RDBMS/PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch

  • English fluency



Beneficial skills


  • Interest in Platform Engineering and DevOps (Observability, CI/CD, Security)

  • Interest in Developer Experience and building tools for engineers

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerization technologies

  • Experience with stream-based architectures such as event sourcing and/or CQRS using technologies such as Pulsar or Kafka

  • Experience with Kotlin
