Job requirements
The Head of Energy Markets and Trading will lead a team and strategy to oversee the following areas:
Lead Sympower's Revenue Optimization & Trading Strategy
- Develop and execute trading and revenue optimization strategies, focusing on Battery Energy Storage systems.
- Collaborate with Data and Product teams to design, prioritize, and deliver optimization products and integrations with energy markets and TSOs.
Develop and Scale the Trading Function
- Establish wholesale market trading processes (day-ahead, intraday, imbalance markets).
- Define roles and capabilities to scale the trading and settlement teams.
Manage the Trading Operations
- Oversee the Energy Trading and Settlement desks, handling day-ahead, intraday trades, and ancillary services.
- Manage reconciliation, nominations, imbalance obligations, and ensure revenue maximization per MW.
What you will need
10+ years of experience in origination, wholesale market trading or within the trading and operations department of an energy company
- Strong background in energy markets (day-ahead, intraday, imbalance) and trading operations.
- Experience with EPEX Spot and/or Nord Pool platforms.
- Deep understanding of energy market processes, BRP requirements, and ETRM systems.
- Strong decision-making and analytical skills, with trading optimization knowledge.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with experience in scaling up and working with remote, multi-country teams.
- Passion for the energy transition and values-driven organizations. Nordic market experience is a plus.
