Job description
The position
The Electricity Markets Expert is the point of expertise within Sympower regarding regulatory and technical requirements of the different electricity markets suitable for flexibility, with an emphasis on balancing markets. In this role, you will be responsible for analysing grid codes and regulations, and translating regulatory requirements into strategic analysis and impacts for Sympower’s operations.

What you will do
This position is pivotal for the rest of the Market Strategy team as well as the product and local teams. You will support with tasks like but not limited too:
Pinpointing barriers and opportunities for participation of distributed flexibility at European and national level
Deep diving into regulatory requirements and participate to consultations process (aggregation models, baseline calculation, bidding, prequalification…) to ensure a good understanding by the operational and engineering teams and compliance
- Making strategic decisions on new markets (e.g. wholesale), programs and resources:
Deep understanding of the technical requirements, and the lift required to participate
Helping to build the business case and implementation plan
Managing and supporting projects related to new markets or regulatory requirements changes
Job requirements
What you will need
Energy law or energy engineering background, with the capacity to understand the impact regulation has on Sympower’s operations at technical level
Past experience in working with TSO, regulatory agency or relevant energy consultancy is a plus
Experience in electricity regulatory environments (experience on balancing markets and flexibility issues is a strong asset)
Fluent in English, other languages are a strong assets as Sympower is quickly expanding in Europe
